Blue and Gold {Costco} Cake

I had grand plans...  Those turned into gussying up a costco sheet cake.  Nobody complained. :)

The scouting program is inspired and I was glad to support it!  But the truth be told, I volunteered because I have a memory of my mother making a Blue and Gold sheet cake for my brother when I was little and it just made me feel close to her.

Bucky, take 2

Poor younger siblings, they often get the burnt-out parent's version of previous efforts.  It didn't help that I was 7 months pregnant with #3 at the time. It's not super recognizable as Bucky from Jake and the Neverland Pirates because it didn't have the figures on it. They've since become bath toys and no amount of bleach would make me ok with putting those back on a cake.

There are positives to this version though...it is definitely the preferred option for those who detest fondant. :)  Plus, this Bucky had a detail I left off the first one, that awesome slide!

Winter Wonderland

This cake was for a school funding-raising auction, the theme was "Winter Wonderland."  I'm pretty clumsy and this is the first thing I envisioned when they told me what the theme was, so I decided to just go with it!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss

8" chocolate cake. Chocolate frosting, peanut butter filling, chocolate ganache...and of course, Reeses peanut butter cups. Happy Birthday to me!

Lighthouse Cake

This lighthouse cake was made for a special evening with the young women at church. The theme was Keepers of the Light. The decorations were beautiful and the program was inspiring. The lighthouse cake was reflecting the theme. It was a vanilla cake with a lemon mousse filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. A sheet cake base and three tiers of cake rounds for the lighthouse.  There was a tealight in the top with cast sugar windows.

Deja Vu

I made one of these a year ago and this year the sweet woman ordered two larger ones for a conference. I just snapped a quick picture after I'd packed it up so it looks a bit wonky under the plastic. It's fudge marble sheet cakes with chocolate buttercream.

Chili Cook-off Cake

We had a scout camp fundraiser for the young men at church last month. The theme was a chili cook-off, complete with a seasoned judge.  My husband's submission was candy chili, with jelly beans and a bunch of other bean candies and chocolates. My contribution was this crockpot chili cake. Chocolate cake with nutella swirls and nutella frosting; the top had chocolate & yogurt covered raisins, strawberry preserves and chocolate cake crumbles. Complete with blue ribbon!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

My baby turned 2!  He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  It's saves a lot of tears come time to change a diaper; just show him the Mickey on his diaper and he comes runnin'! We had a very quiet party with some family friends and their kids. I saw a similar cake online and thought it was darling. 8" cake, can't for the life of me remember the flavor.  The mickey head is foam balls covered in fondant. The foot and red clubhouse are rice cereal treats.  Happy birthday, bud, I love you.

Purple Ombre Cake

I've seen a version of this cake on pinterest (of course) and have wanted to try it for a while. So when my sister's birthday came around I had my chance!  I'll make a few small changes next time (like making the bottom color darker) but really I love how it turned out. Simple, elegant...love that.

Chocolate cake with chocolate mint ganache filling and vanilla buttercream.

More Minnie!

My client saw the previous Minnie Mouse entry and knew that's what she wanted for her daughter!  The birthday girl was turning five and Mom used her nickname to put on the circles.

Vanilla cupcakes, vanilla frosting, mini oreos and fondant details.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates Cake

My son turned four this summer and he knew exactly what he wanted, a Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday party.  He wanted Bucky, the pirate ship as his cake, so I said sure! There could have been a lot more details to the cake but since I was also trying to plan a party at the same time I kept it simple. He LOVED it, and the look on his face when I told him we could finally cut into, well that made it all worth it.

Chocolate fondant, chocolate cake with ganache filling.
